CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH RECEIVES $5,000 FROM LOWE’S CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA (August 7, 2013) ---
The City of Boynton Beach and the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational
Foundation (LCEF) are pleased to announce a major gift in support of
the City of Boynton Beach’s mission to engage individuals
in building and sustaining vibrant communities.
The Lowe’s/Keep America Beautiful Community
Improvement Grant of $5,000 is one of 75 merit-based grants awarded
nationally to support grassroots community improvement projects
including community gardens, tree plantings, litter and debris
cleanups, recycling programs, park and playground restorations, and
beautification efforts.
Lowe’s/Keep America Beautiful Community Improvement
Grant will provide funding for the Mangrove Walk at the Marina
Enhancement Project. The City of Boynton Beach is excited to have
received this grant award and is looking forward to working
with students and Lowe’s Heroes to plant littoral plants and trees at
the Mangrove Walk at the Marina storm water pond. “We are thankful for
this opportunity to improve, inform and interact with the community
while enhancing this unique environment”, said
Glenda Hall, City of Boynton Beach Forestry & Grounds Manager.
“Keep America Beautiful is proud of the positive
impact that the City of Boynton Beach’s project will have in the
community,” said Keep America Beautiful President and CEO Matt McKenna.
“We are truly grateful to Lowe’s Charitable and Educational
Foundation for its support and leadership that is being demonstrated in
community sustainability.”
Lowe’s
supports the communities it serves through programs that focus on K-12
public education and community improvement projects. The company’s
signature education
grant program, Lowe’s Toolbox for Education®, has donated more than $34 million to 7,500 K-12
public schools, benefiting more than 4 million schoolchildren. Lowe’s Heroes
employee volunteers support local community projects and our national nonprofit partners such as
Habitat for Humanity,
Rebuilding Together and the
American Red Cross. In 2012, Lowe’s and the
Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation
together contributed more than $30 million to support communities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. To learn more, visit
