Co-Chair Erin Allen added:  Buddy Walk…Uncorked  will be kicking off our special 20th Anniversary Buddy Walk with an evening of wonderful wines and great small plates at the very cozy Wine Cellar in Boynton Beach.  When my son was born with Down syndrome, the Gold Coast organization was there for my family.  So my mother-in-law Patti Steinberg and I are happy to say thank you by serving on the Buddy Walk Committee and raising money that will help families like ours.”

In 1995, the Buddy Walk was launched by the National Down Syndrome Society and
Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization was one of the original 17 sites. Today Gold Coast is one of two organizations (out of the now 300 walk sites nationally) that have been running Buddy Walks for twenty years. This year the walk will be held on Sunday October 19, 2014 at John Prince Park from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event consists of the walk, complimentary breakfast, bounce houses, rock wall, a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, dunk tank, live entertainment, dj and dancing, an auction/raffle and more.  Hot dogs and drinks will be available for a small suggested donation, courtesy of G4S.  For more information or to register, go to http://ds.donordrive.com/gcdso.  The event is expected to attract nearly 3,000 people and raise $175,000 for Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization programs.

Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization is an educational resource, support and advocacy organization, which has been empowering individuals with Down syndrome and their families since 1980. The organization serves Palm Beach County.
