CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH RECEIVES $5,000 GRANT FROM USA SWIMMING FOUNDATION

BOYNTON BEACH, FL --- The City of Boynton Beach’s Recreation and Park Department recently received a $5,000 Make a Splash grant from the USA Swimming Foundation. The grant will be utilized for swim lesson scholarships at the City’s municipal pool - Denson Pool.  Recreation and Parks Director, Wally Majors, is very pleased that the City was one of 57 recipients to receive this grant, stating “This  grant permits the City of Boynton Beach to teach our younger residents how to swim and survive in the waterway systems surrounding Florida.”

Due to this grant, scholarships are available to families who are interested in registering their children for the Learn to Swim program at Denson Pool. Depending on need, residents will be able to register for the program at a reduced rate or free of charge. This is a Level I course is for those who have never had lessons and/or cannot swim. Children will learn basic water safety and swimming skills at a beginner level. Weekday classes are held at 9:00, 9:45 and 10:30 a.m. (45 minutes). Saturday classes are at 10:30 and 11:15 a.m. (45 minutes).
